Is it pizza? no, because there is no tomato sauce. Is it Pita? Maybe. Is it delicious? Usually.

Pide is generally a bit of bread dough, rolled flat, topped with some meats and cheeses, then cooked very quickly in a stone-bottom oven. This quick and easy meal is one of the most consistent and easy to find throughout Turkey, with essentially every neighborhood in the country having their own Pideci, or pide restaurant.

Common types of pide include but are not limited to:

Kıymalı: With ground meat

Kaşarlı: With stringy cheese

Kuşbalılı: With minced meat

Sucuklu: With dried sausage

Peynirli: With feta cheese

Pastirmali: With Turkish Pastrami
