Fall is Aşure season in Denizli. But what is Aşure you may be asking? Well, loosely translated as Noah’s Pudding, it is a sweet mixture of grains, nuts, and dried fruit, which make a hearty dessert for those cold winter nights. In the Ottoman times the dish was a meal, not just a sweet at the end of the night, but it has evolved into the hearty sweet treat we see around today.

Many families and businesses make large pots of Aşure to share with their neighbors during the fall season.
